ATS Resume Score Checker

ResumeIQ scores your resume in seconds on the things most applicant tracking systems actually check — no signup, nothing stored.

We don't store your resume — it's scored in memory and discarded.

What this checker looks at

Five checks, each worth up to 20 points, add up to a score out of 100 — the same categories that trip up real resumes against real ATS software.

Contact information
Your email and phone number need to be plain, extractable text — not locked inside an image, a header/footer, or a text box an ATS can't parse.
Standard section headers
Summary, Experience, Education and Skills (or their common synonyms) tell an ATS how to route each part of your resume. Creative header names can get skipped entirely.
Resume length
Too short under-represents your experience; too long buries what matters. We check against the range recruiters and ATS systems handle best.
Quantified achievements
"Increased signups 32%" beats "responsible for signups." We check how many of your bullet points carry a real number, percentage, or metric.
Wording strength
Generic filler — "team player," "results driven," "responsible for" — reads as noise to both ATS keyword matching and a human skimming your resume.

How it works

  1. 1. Upload. PDF, DOCX, or TXT, up to 5 MB.
  2. 2. We check it's actually a resume. Random documents are rejected with an explanation, not scored.
  3. 3. Get your score. A 0–100 score, a plain-language band, and a specific explanation for each of the five checks.

Frequently asked questions

What is an ATS, and why does it matter?

An Applicant Tracking System (ATS) is the software most companies use to collect, parse, and filter resumes before a human ever sees them. If your resume's formatting or content trips up that parsing step, a qualified application can get filtered out before anyone reads it.

Is this free, and do I need to sign up?

Yes — this tool is completely free and doesn't require an account. Upload a PDF, DOCX, or TXT resume and get your score instantly. Nothing is stored.

How is the score calculated?

The score is deterministic, not AI-generated — it checks contact info, section headers, resume length, quantified achievements, and wording strength, each worth up to 20 points, for a total out of 100.

Why did my file get rejected instead of scored?

The checker first confirms the uploaded file actually looks like a resume — real career-history content like contact details, work-history dates, degree wording, or standard section headers. A non-resume document (an invoice, a report, a cover letter) is rejected with an explanation rather than given a misleading numeric score.

Does a high score guarantee I'll get an interview?

No — this checks resume mechanics and ATS-readability, not fit for a specific role. For a deeper, job-description-specific analysis of how your resume matches a real opening, see Smart Apply inside ProSuite OS.
